Hall of Fame Bylaws & Criteria
The following bylaws govern the nomination, election, and induction process for the MAGA Hall of Fame.
Purpose & HOF Board Click to expand ▾
Purpose
The purpose of the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor current and former coaches, judges, supporters, contributors, and athletes who helped to bring honor, recognition, distinction, and excellence to the MAGA association. This recognition will help maintain the spirit, pride, and excellence of MAGA as well as serving as a historical account of MAGA traditions.
HOF Board Members
The board members of the HOF will include four (4) current and/or past MAGA members, appointed by the MAGA executive board.
HOF Budget
The MAGA board will determine the budget for the HOF board each year, dependent on the number of inductees for that year.
Criteria & Eligibility for Nomination Click to expand ▾
Judges
As determined by the HOF board members, judges will have a minimum of 15 years of judging within the MAGA association. Judges may be current or retired.
Coaches
As determined by the HOF board members, coaches will have a minimum of 15 years coaching in the MAGA. Coaches must be in good standing with the association and have helped the sport of gymnastics.
Special Recognition
As determined by the HOF board members, special recognition for supporters, contributors, and athletes will also be considered for nomination based upon their service and dedication to MAGA gymnastics.
Nomination Process Click to expand ▾
A candidate may be nominated for the MAGA Hall of Fame by any member past or present of the MAGA association. Formal nomination shall be made using the nomination form located on this page. The nomination form must be received by the Hall of Fame board by January 15th each year.
Nominations are to remain confidential, shared among the members of the HOF board only. Information relating to a nominee's career must be supported by accompanying documentation or sources cited so that the information may be verified independently.
Election Process Click to expand ▾
Background information on each nominee should be distributed to HOF board members prior to the meeting. Each HOF board member shall have one vote and all votes shall carry equal weight. In order to gain election as an inductee, a candidate is required to receive a number of votes equal to 75% of voting HOF board members participating in the meeting.
If no candidate nominated in a particular year is deemed worthy of election, the HOF board reserves the right to not induct a new member for that year. The HOF board shall have authority and discretion to withdraw, cancel, or revoke the nomination, election, or induction of any person as the HOF board deems necessary to maintain the character and integrity of this award.
Banquet & Awards Click to expand ▾
Hall of Fame Banquet
Date and details will be determined by the Hall of Fame board each year. Meals will be provided by MAGA for the Hall of Fame inductees and one other family member. All members of MAGA will be invited to attend.
Hall of Fame Awards
Inductees will receive an 8×10 plaque presented by the Hall of Fame board members. Inductee names will appear on the MAGA website categorized by year of induction. Video presentations may appear at Championships for HOF inductees.
