Purpose:
The purpose of the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor current and former coaches, judges, supporters, contributors, and athletes who helped to bring honor, recognition, distinction, and excellence to the MAGA association. This recognition will help maintain the spirit, pride, and excellence of MAGA as well as serving as a historical account of MAGA traditions.
HOF Board Members:
The board members of the HOF will include (4) current and/or past MAGA members.
The HOF Board Members will be appointed by the MAGA executive board.
HOF Budget
The MAGA board will determine the budget for the HOF board each year. The budget will be dependent on the number of inductees for any given year.
Criteria/Eligibility for Nomination:
Judges:
As determined by the HOF board members, judges will have a minimum of 15 years of judging within the MAGA association. Judges will be current or retired.
Coaches:
As determined by the HOF board members, coaches will have a minimum of 15 years coaching in the MAGA. Coaches must be in good standing with the association and have helped the sport of gymnastics.
Special Recognition:
As determined by the HOF board members; Special recognition for supporters, contributors, and athletes will also be considered for nomination based upon their service and dedication to MAGA gymnastics.
Nomination Process:
A candidate may be nominated for the MAGA Hall of Fame by any member past or present of the MAGA association. Formal nomination shall be made using the nomination form located on the MAGA website. The nomination form must be received by the Hall of Fame board. The nomination deadline is January, 15th of each year. Nominations are to remain confidential, to be shared among the members of the HOF board only. Information relating to a nominee's career must be supported by accompanying documentation or sources cited so that the information may be verified independently.
Election Process
Background information on each nominee should be distributed to HOF board members prior to the meeting and members should familiarize themselves with the nominees prior to voting. Each HOF board member shall have one vote and all votes shall carry equal weight. In order to gain election as an inductee, a candidate is required to receive a number of votes equal to 75% of voting HOF board members participating in the meeting. The outcome of the verbal vote will be shared with the HOF board members only. If, in the opinion of the HOF board members (as evidenced by failure to obtain the 75% threshold described above), no candidate nominated in a particular year is worthy of election to the hall of fame, then the HOF board reserves the right to not induct a new member for that year. The HOF board shall have authority and discretion to withdraw, cancel or revoke the nomination, election or induction of any person into, or the membership of any person in, the MAGA Hall of Fame, as the HOF board deems necessary or appropriate to maintain the character and integrity of this award.
Hall of Fame Banquet:
Will be determined by the Hall of Fame Board each year. Meals will be provided by the MAGA for the Hall of Fame Inductees and one other family member. All members of the MAGA will be invited to attend.
Hall of Fame Awards:
Inductees will receive an 8x10 plaque presented by the Hall of Fame board members. The inductees names will appear on the MAGA website categorized by year of induction. Video presentations may appear at Championships for HOF inductees.
